Winter Solstice in Spessart
In the winter night
when the snow falls,
Mani rides her golden chariot
with two white star appeal
horses over Spessart.
Wild boars’ snouts stroke
the brown soil and melted snow,
searching for mushrooms and tree roots.
A grey European cat’s paws
frolics and brushes against the snow,
conquering wintery enchantment
in the dead of night.
One by one, pieces
of chopped lumber are tossed
into the bonfire’s orange-golden mouth.
within the ritualistic circle.
The bodhrans from the distant beat in sync
with the Chamois’ hooves.
Bock flutters its’ fairy notes around
the flame’s golden-orange fingers.
Lute guitar and waldzither strings strum.
Germanic nomads chant Yggdrasill.
Ancient oaks and beeches’ shadows Schunkeln
to the winter solstice song.
Snowy owl flies across the solstice sky.
My eyes open, gazed and reflect at the moon.
A Viking Rune triskelion appears.
My body and soul regenerated and submerged
in vigorous energy.
I am awakened from my long hibernation.
