Let’s Start a Band and Call it Sally Yates

The best I can give you for your voice:
my voice, a film of me using it.

I know you, so I say I’ve met
one of the world’s Seven Wonders.

Hey, baby. I’m flirting with you. Get that?
There’s not enough poetry here, so I’ll go.

Remember when I stretched into another
part of myself just because I needed you?

Remember I made you laugh
when you so wanted to pout?

Highlight every word and call it close
reading. Let’s memorize another

night spent together after sestinas apart.
Let’s fall asleep slowly; we had to, for the art.
