HAWKS, BEETLES, GIRAFFES, AND GOATEES
I know what you’re thinking:
the writer is a giraffe
the giraffe
has a
goatee
it’s reciting something it wrote in a blog post
it’s no longer shy, nor
afraid
of
being
vulnerable
there are apostrophes dangling from the roof of the world
where swooping hawks coming from another dimension
begin
to
laugh
seeing
everything
dying
they leave, and go ranting
about bad grammar, plastic in the ocean, and
man
the beetles
are
dead
too
so I tune my invisible acoustic
guitar
and remain as one
with everything
(even though I will probably have to
shave
sometime
soon.)
