Full Moon
after Lana Del Rey

tell me, honey, do you miss your american girl?
i dream in the blue dark under sullen stars; i conjure
the thunder over the sea. mister, do you recognize me
now? i carry my sadness & my distance, my worn summer
dresses & my burning heart. (by the way, i buried
the stuff you left: your bad poetry & worse moods, your
expensive sweaters & little gods.) of course there are places
where the moon still shines but i’m not so forgiving
anymore. you should know: some sins never
wash away, no matter how many times you drown.
