Dryad
Once a leaf grew from my palm
Tender and pale green.
It unfurled and I tore it out
Afraid.
But another took its place
And another and another
Until
I awoke in a forest
Feet rooted to the ground
Bark under my tongue
Unable to scream.
Once a leaf grew from my palm
Tender and pale green.
It unfurled and I tore it out
Afraid.
But another took its place
And another and another
Until
I awoke in a forest
Feet rooted to the ground
Bark under my tongue
Unable to scream.
