A Video of You, Laughing

Step outside, why don’t you? The earth
pushes up handfuls of fragile violet astras
while snow snarls the edges of the yard.

A perfume of curling worms wends itself
into a dark pool of consciousness.
Why is it raining? Why now snow?
Why is it warm? Why now cold?

Lean into the filmy sky marking hours with clouds.
Plant yourself here: a video of your laughter falling
over our faces as through a sifter for sugar.

We’ll measure the day’s worth in neurochemicals.
We’ll measure it in blossom, and melting snow.
